At the 84th annual Tucson Rodeo—or Fiesta de los Vaqueros—Kelsey Parchman and York Gill roped three steers in 19 seconds to win the average and $5,368.

Gill has never qualified for the Wrangler NFR, but has enjoyed success at both Cheyenne Frontier Days and the Reno (Nev.) Rodeo. Parchman won the 2008 Wildfire Open to the World at 19 years old. They distanced themselves from more established ropers such as Speed Williams and Clay O’Brien Cooper, who finished third.

Both Parchman and Gill are originally from Tennessee, but now reside in Texas.
Other winners in Tucson were 2007 World Champion Barrel Racer Brittany Pozzi-Pharr. She turned the cloverleaf pattern in three times in 52.71 seconds. Jeff Chapman won the tie-down roping with a 26.9-second average time on three. Davey Shields Jr. scored 174 on two head to win the bareback riding, Cole Edge won the steer wrestling with a 17.6-time on three. Wade Sundell took top honors in the saddle bronc riding with a 170 on two and Brian Curtis won the bull riding with a 176-point score on two.
