Denbighshire, Wales — Signature Leather, the British company most recently
responsible for bringing English-made gloves back to the United States
equestrian market, is delighted to announce that they have appointed Equestrian
Classics of Kentucky to partner in the crafting of a new line of halters,
shanks, dog collars, leads, and belts to match the Signature line of
gloves.
“Society continually
seeks out faster and cheaper ways of doing things,” said Sara Wadhia of
Signature Leather. “At each decision point, if people choose the more
mass-produced route, they’ve made a compromise in quality that seems acceptable
at the time. Over time, however, you make enough of these compromises, and
suddenly you’re on a different plane in terms of quality. You see this in food —
witness home-grown tomatoes versus grocery — in architecture, in children’s
toys, and throughout our mass-produced lives. Choosing to enjoy leather goods
that are nothing short of sublime in texture, color and craftsmanship is one
small way to defy the onward march of efficiency.”
The new strap goods
will be crafted in the Kentucky studios of Equestrian Classics, under the
direction of Signature Leather, and will feature British tanner Pittards' WR100X leather. This is the same leather featured in
Signature Leather gloves, and is made by a proprietary process that creates a
unique depth of color and extreme softness, yet with the durability demanded by
equestrian sports. WR100X leather will pad the new strap goods, giving
equestrians the ability to coordinate their gloves, halters, leads, belts, and
dog collars and leads, choosing from over 50 elegant
shades.
Micah Sierp, manager of
Equestrian Classics, said, “We are proud to be chosen by Signature Leather, as
they offer the epitome of quality equestrian gloves. In particular, it’s a
pleasure to be working with Pittards WR100X leather, a truly unique leather we’ve not seen
matched elsewhere.”
Pittards’ WR100X leather, launched in 1980, was the culmination
of many years of exhaustive research of specialist leathers for military
application for helmet linings and combat and pilot gloves. Starting with a very
specific type of remarkably soft, strong and lightweight skin, the Pittards
40-plus-step proprietary process creates a highly supple, very thin, yet
superbly strong and breathable leather offering an unrivalled grip, water
resistance, sensitivity, comfort and recovery. Not surprisingly, these features
have made WR100X the performance standard for sports enthusiasts
worldwide.
Deployed as linings for the new strap goods, Pittards’ WR100X
leather will offer the equestrian something they’ve not gotten before: colorful
padding that holds up well to day-in and day-out use on horses and dogs. So the
beautiful halter, lead, or collar they buy today will be just as beautiful next
year.
Signature Leather strap goods have suggested retail prices from
$52 to $265, and are available throughout the United States at premium
retailers. Please visit Signature-Leather.com for a list of shops and for more
