The reining event at the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany, attracted thousands. Volunteers watched for free.

In competition news, The World Games 2010 Foundation, which is overseeing the volunteer recruitment for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG) in 2010, announced its volunteer recruitment website. The games will be held at the Kentucky Horse Park, the first time on U.S. soil. The foundation says anyone interested in becoming a volunteer can log on to www.feigames2010.org and click on “Volunteer Information” in the “Quick Links” box, to register and receive more information about volunteer opportunities and benefits.

“With more than two years until the 2010 Games, we have already had countless requests for volunteer information,” said Cathy Rutter, Director of Community and Volunteer Relations. The site will let the foundation communicate with volunteers efficiently. All volunteers will participate in training, receive free tickets to some events, as well as free logo wear and other benefits.
