On the heels of the
largest sound flat shod Walking Horse show ever held at Miller Coliseum,
Murfreesboro, Tennessee, the members of
NWHA met in Lexington, Kentuckyto discuss plans for
the coming year and elect new Officers and Board members.

meeting were:
The Board of
Directors approved five NWHA sponsored regional shows for
2008.

The membership
elected Juana Grover as President, John Lewis as Vice President, Lisa Hite as
Secretary and Gordon Lawler as Treasurer. Newly elected Board members include;
Martie Jacobson and Colette Pfender, Central Region,
Tracy Weier, Eastern Region, Linda Richwine and Jimmy Black,
At-Large.
Based on a
membership survey NWHA decided to begin implementing a new Versatility Rule
Book.
NWHA presented 53
annual high
point awards including Overall High Point
Versatility Champion, won by Rick Davidson on “Master Revelation” and Overall
High Point presented to Jennifer Batts on “She’s Doubly
Delightful”.
NWHA presented Trail
Riders’ Incentive Program 2007 Year End Awards, “The T.R.I.P. Awards”. The Iron
Buns Award went to Fran Kueker (537.5 hours), Reserve High Mile Rider to Mark
Krider (296 hours),
High Mile Horse to “Wolf’s Walkman” ridden
by Fran Kueker (278 hours), Reserve High Mile Horse to “Harlow” ridden by Glenda
Levin (126.5 hours),
High Mile Youth Rider to Rebecca Stocker
(84 hours), and Reserve High Mile Youth to Rayne Illingworth (56 hours).
The Phoenix Award
was given to Pam Reband as she embodied the spirit of doing what’s right for the
horse. The Pegasus Award went to Gordon Lawler for his dedicated service to
NWHA. The Loblolly award, for the first time given to a horse, went to “Allen
All Around” for making the NWHA experience enjoyable, memorable and worthwhile.
