The Miami Herald is reporting that two individuals have been arrested in
connection with the murders of horses in the Miami-Dade area.
Santiago Cabrera, a 19-year-old from Hialeah, was arrested September 21 and
charged with armed burglary, animal cruelty, killing a registered breed horse
and breaking or injuring a fence. The prior week, police arrested Luis Miguel
Cordero, 18, on similar charges, reported the Herald.
The two suspects were part of a group involved in slaughtering horses at two
different ranches and then selling the meat. Two other suspects are still at
large.
``I'm very relieved that we have another arrest,'' Jeanette Jordan, president
of the South Florida SPCA told the Herald. ``But I'm stunned that these guys are
so young and I'm heartsick about it.''
