The first official test event for the World Equestrian Games will be held in
July at the Kentucky Horse Park.
The Kentucky Cup Reining, a four-star FEI event, will include an
international roster of teams and individuals, as well as some of this country’s
top reining names. The event will take place in the brand-new indoor arena.
It’s fitting that reining is one of the first events to be held in the new
facility. The discipline saw its first showing at WEG in Jerez, Spain in 2002,
and has gradually gained international fans.
In the meantime, title sponsor
Alltech is doing everything in its power to make sure its name is featured,
interests represented and the games a raging success. The company has added a
full-time staff of 10 to coordinate all of the initiatives it’s undertaking
for the games, according to the newspaper Business Lexington.
The company
has multiple horse- and entertainment-oriented events planned for the next 500
days, including sponsorship of the FEI European Championships, an experience
pavilion and International Village, and a new product line for horses.
