Join The Cavalry
It’s an election year (in case you live under a rock) and the choices we make in the voting booth can have a serious impact on our horses’ lives. That’s why the American Horse Council wants you to join up.

The Washington, D.C.-based membership group is the lobbyist for the horse industry, and it’s urging the horse-concerned public to join its grassroots program, the Congressional Cavalry.

The Congressional Cavalry is composed of individuals who will contact their federal elected officials when national issues that impact the horse community arise. In January, a new Congress will take office and now is the time to get ready, says the horse council in a press release.

With agricultural, sporting, gaming, entertainment and recreation components, the horse industry has vast interests in Washington. As a whole, the horse industry is more powerful than any one small group. All segments of the community enjoy the benefits of such a powerful lobby in federal legislation and regulation that keep opportunities open to expand our businesses and enjoy our horses, the horse council says.

It works simply. Cavalry members are placed on an email or fax list so they can be contacted and activated quickly. When action is needed, the AHC provides each cavalry member with background information, talking points, and sample letters to forward to their representatives in Washington. It is AHC’s goal to eventually have members of the Congressional Cavalry Program from all segments of the horse industry and in every Congressional district.

If you want to sign up, please contact Ben Pendergrass of the American Horse Council at 202-296-4031 or bpendergrass@horsecouncil.org.
