The American
Quarter Horse Journal, December 20, 2007 – The American Quarter Horse
Association, the industry leader in equestrian television
programming, is approaching 30 continuous years of producing educational,
lifestyle and competition programs for horse enthusiasts. This commitment
continues in 2008, as AQHA moves its weekly television programming endeavors to
RFD-TV, beginning January 2. “AQHA Presents . . .” will feature a combination of
entertaining and informative shows with the industry’s top trainers, along with
classic episodes of past AQHA television programming and competitions from AQHA
and its alliance partners’ championship events.
We're very excited to showcase the American Quarter Horse lifestyle on RFD-TV because so
many AQHA members have satellites and can easily access this growing network,”
said Bill Brewer, AQHA Executive Vice President. “This is a tremendous
opportunity to also reach the growing segment of people moving to rural areas to
pursue their dream of land ownership, and the western and rural
lifestyle.”
“AQHA Presents
. . .” airs three times weekly – Wednesdays at 1 p.m. and 11 p.m. Eastern and
Saturdays at 12:30 p.m. Eastern. Featured in 2008 will be “AQHA Team Wrangler
Presents” – a series of educational and entertaining shows featuring top AQHA
Professional Horsemen and Horsewomen, all members of the highly popular AQHA
Team Wrangler program. Episodes include:
- “What’s it like to . . .” where Team Wrangler members
give a one-on-one lesson from their discipline, such as cutting or roping, to a
member of the AQHA publications staff
- “Trading Saddles” where Team Wrangler members trade
places with another member of a different discipline – halter and speed event,
western and English
-
In addition, winners of online contests hosted on
AQHA’s Web site, aqha.com,
will have Team Wrangler members help with horse issues in “Fix My Horse,”
prepping a horse for sale in “Sell My Horse,” and a lucky youth will get
guidance in “Makeover My Horse”
Viewers will
be treated to “Best of AQHA Events” drawn from the long-running “America’s Horse” series that began in
1986. Emphasis for the episodes will be on record-setting performances, many
featuring American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame inductees such as Rugged Lark
winning his two Superhorse titles at the AQHA World Championship Show; Jack
Brooks winning his fifth, sixth and seventh All American futurities; Dash For
Cash winning the Champion of Champions; early National Cutting Horse Association
and National Reining Horse Association Futurity and Derby winning runs; trips to
Best Remuda Award winning ranches and much more.
Rounding out
the year will be coverage of AQHA’s World Championship events including the Ford
AQHYA World Championship Show, Bayer Select, Bank of America Amateur and FedEx
Open AQHA World Championship Show, and Fort Dodge Versatility Ranch Horse World
Championship Show, along with major events produced by AQHA Alliance Partners
NCHA, NRHA and National Reined Cow Horse Association.
Sponsors Bank
of America, Bayer, B&W Trailer Hitches, FedEx,
Ford, Fort Dodge, John Deere,
Professional’s Choice, Sidran and Tractor Supply will be bringing all the action
to viewers.
