This charming, clever and witty well bred Quarter Horse Gelding is seeking a lifetime home / companion with a small woman that practices natural horsemanship!
He is featured as a Breed Representative for Foundation Quarter Horses in Fran Lynghaug's new book "The Official Horse Breeds Standard Guide". "This sorrel gelding's compact body style is typical of the working lines of the lineage used for ranch and cattle work as well as the show pen".
Colonels Cashin Chex. 5 Year Old * 14.2 Hand * Chestnut Gelding.
Colonel is a one owner horse. HIs breeder / owner, Susan Kirk, is a 1994 Graduate of John Lyons Certification Program and a former Carded Judge for the Foundation Quarter Horse Registry. Colonel's sire was Susan's Certification horse, Dregers Dry Tivio. To this day, the best horse Susan has ridden. Colonel's dam was one of her favorite riding horses and broodmares, Dregers Freckle Chex.
In his two-year-old year Colonel would colic and require surgery. He survived surgery and a year later was leading a normal life again.
This is a super gelding. Pretty fearless. He has a fine mind. His riding is pretty basic at this point. He has a ton of athletic ability and due to his cowhorse breeding can move low and sideways very rapidly. He has the nicest personality. He is also a lock picker! Ground work - he will do everything loose in the round pen. Awesome for the vet and farrier. Hauls with our without company just fine.
His breeding is some of the finest in the cowhorse business: Dry Doc, King Fritz, Poco Tivio, Colonel Freckles and Doc Tom Tucker.
The price of this horse is irrelevant as I thought enough of him to spend $10,000.00 on colic surgery that I knew I would never see a return on.
The Colonel requires one supplement in his diet. He has not had a health issue since the surgery.
I am seeking a lifetime commitment home for this horse, with natural horsemanship handling - anyone that has worked with John Lyons or any of his Certified Trainers would be awesome! This horse has had five years of consistent handling, it would be great to keep it that way.
Trail riding or competing for fun in sorting would be a good fit for him with someone that just wants a really special horse to enjoy.
He is a nice horse for me, I am just spread too thin. If I know he will be someone's one horse, I know he will get more attention than he does here at home with me.
