Natural Insect Repellent
image fpo
Take a natural approach to keeping insects at bay on the trail: Bugband uses Graniol, a geranium-oil extract, to repel such insects as mosquitoes, flies, and ticks, rather than a manmade chemical, such as DEET. Use it on yourself and your equine friend. Bugband is available as a pump spray, towelettes (available as canisters or in foil two-packs), and wristbands. The latter work for up to 120 hours, and can be stored in their resealable plastic pods between uses; they feature a break-away strap to avoid entanglement, and can be attached to your horse’s bridle to ward off pests. A bedding-treatment formulation is also available for stable use.

Cost: $6.95 (pump spray); $6.79 (15-count towelettes); $14.95 (wristband four-pack); $19.95 (bedding treatment).
