Big Change in the Team Roping at the NFR

We just received some news today that was too late to make it into our December Wrangler NFR preview issue, but will have a huge impact on the world title race. In the team roping, there will only be two loops allowed per team per run. It might slow things down a bit, which might give an advantage to a different kind of roper. Still, this won't affect the best of the best. So, with that being said, how do you think it will affect the roping? Who do you think will win? Does it change your pick? Here are the pairings and earnings.

So many great ropers and great guys. I agree that Trevor and Patrick have a great shot. However, David Key and Rich have a lot of depth and inner strength and experience to draw on. Everyone up there can rope and has great horsemanship. I am not sure on the numbers, but it looks like it's still anyones game. I think most of the guys will be making businessmens runs, looking for a check everynight and staying in the average. I think two loops will change it up and it won't be two many bombs unless someone just has to go for broke.

I don't think it will slow it down, the money in the go rounds is too much to pass up on, there might be a few teams who go for the average but most will pin back their ears and try for the go's. I think Chad and Jade will win the world, the average is up for grabs.

Well, C Parker and Risky Betts might be right, two loops might not slow it down. The reason it would, is because there are no second chances and guys would want to stay in the average race, so they'd be a little more conservative to make sure they rope their steer and get a time. The average title is worth almost $40,000 For a world title, you have to have a shot at two checks come Saturday night. I think what will happen is that once teams do go out of the average, they'll be gunning for the rounds--like at a big open roping--so it'll still be fast. But I don't think you'll see the eventual world champs winning rounds after about the fifth round. With no third loop, there's just no safety net.
