Buckets in the barn
are handy for watering, feeding and
washing horses. The following are a few great horse bucket ideas for you to use:
•
In the barn, it’s easier to see dirt and debris collecting in a
light-colored bucket than in a dark-colored bucket. If you see it, you will
likely clean it, so choose light-colored buckets when
practical.
•
Hang buckets on the wall using double-ended snaps and a heavy eye screw,
or purchase a manufactured bucket hook or strap.
• A flat-sided bucket stays in position against the wall better than a
round one.
• To prevent tail or mane hairs from getting caught in the ends of bucket
handles, buy buckets with rubber tip guards on the tail ends of the handle
and/or wrap the ends with duct tape or electrical tape, so there’s no way horse
hair can get caught. This can also help prevent a horse from skinning his
forehead or catching his forelock on the twists of the
handle.
• Use a handle-less bucket or tub if you intend to set it on the ground.
The handle can create a hazard if the bucket gets tipped over and the horse gets
a leg caught in it.
• When hanging, position buckets above pawing height.
